Gracie’s Fresh48 Session

You guys- I have been waiting for Gracie’s Fresh48 Session for what seems like forever. It has only been three months since her mamma booked their sessions but I have been chomping at the bit to find out if Gracie would be a baby boy or a baby girl!

I start each fresh48 session with a selfie in front of the hospital. It’s cheesy and pretty lame, but I get a kick out of it. It’s become tradition and I love announcing the days work on social media this way!

After I (not so discretely) take the traditional selfie, I head inside. Sentara has this neat staircase.

I love it and for the first time ever I grabbed a cell phone shot. Once I bounced up this fantastic staircase- I entered the maternity ward, eager to meet little Gracie.

Meeting Gracie Kathlene!

Upon entering the room I found some special visitors. They were there to welcome me Gracie too!

Gracie’s first visitors!

Mamma’s friend, Auntie & her grandma! I learned my lesson at Millie’s Fresh48 where her poor great-grandma patiently waited for me to hand over the baby. (You can read that story here!)

While these lovely ladies had their turn snuggling Baby Gracie, I took detail shots of the room. These are all things new mamma’s forget all too soon. Hospital stay’s are not very long in the United States. Most are 24-48 hours and it’s a whirlwind! You are so focused on your brand new baby that mom’s easily over look the is special details.

Once Gracie’s visitors had their fill of baby snuggles, I got to work capturing all of the glorious details of her as a brand new baby!

Next mamma did some hands-on work

Dad is a little camera shy but I couldn’t leave him out! He is the strong/silent type but his baby girl has absolutely stolen his heart!

After I have gotten all the shots I want, I typically ask for a picture with the baby. Again- super cheesy, but I also love having these images (must be the photographer in me! HA!!) Here is my image with Gracie.

It wouldn’t be right to end Gracie’s Fresh48 Session blog with an image of the two of us together… so why don’t we end it with one of this brand new family of three?

Gracie, you are one LOVED little girl! I can’t wait to see you in the studio for your newborn session!

xo- Jessica
