So the world of wedding isn’t all that new to me. I’ve been the second shooter for quite a few weddings in the last year or so. I never really had the intention of becoming a wedding photographer but when Jadyn and Kenyatee asked me if I would consider being their wedding photographer, I couldn’t say no!
A little bit of history…
I’ve known Jadyn and her family for years. Jadyn was on a competitive dance team with my oldest daughter when they were just ten years old! I didn’t meet Kenyatee until I did a newborn session for their baby girl. Jadyn and Kenyatee seem like total opposites. She is bubbly, outgoing and full of personality. He is a hard nut to crack. Quiet and still, I can tell he is her strength. I always say opposites attract! They remind me so much of my husband and myself!
Onto the Session : Jadyn and Kenyatee
We chose to hold their engagement session at Yorktown Beach. It gave us a woodsy area to reflect Kenyatee and a beachy area to represent Jadyn’s style. It really is a gem of a location!
Knowing that he is shy and she feared seeming awkward, I decided to leave some room for “warming up”. The first question I asked was, “Jadyn is pretty high maintenance, isn’t she?”
She said, “Who, ME!?” Then she said, “yeah… I am!” THAT got him to loosen up a little bit. Success!
We talked a little it about the wedding and their honeymoon…
After shooting in the little village area, we set off to explore!
Does this ring make me look engaged!?
One of my favorite outtakes of Jadyn and Kenyatee. Every time I got them settled into a pose, the wind would kick up. This tree would blow all over the place.
**Full embarrassment disclosure**
This is the point where I stepped in a sizable amount of (fresh) dog waste. I was in sandals and had poo all over my sandal and my foot. It was awful. Peeps- PELASE clean up after your pet, pretty please.
Every time I get them settled into a pose, the wind would kick up & this tree would blow all over the place!
Next we ventured over to the beach, my personal favorite.
Now that these crazy kids were a little more comfortable in front of my camera… we got to play around a little more!
At this point Kenyatee was in his element and went a little GQ on me! (totally glad I caught this moment!)
The bride and groom stepped into the gazebo and did a few dance moves. Could this be a preview of their first dance?
Of course no beach session would be complete with out sunset images. Jadyn & Kenyatee are going somewhere tropical for their honeymoon. I am sure those sunsets will be far more spectacular than what we see here in Williamsburg, Va!
A little Shout Out to Jenna:
Jadyn’s friend Jenna was visiting from South Carolina & came along. I am not sure if she realized she would become bag holder, stray hair monitor & mirror holder. She also ends dup holding my camera when climbing off the boulders. If she moves back to Williamsburg, she’s totally hired as my assistant.
This cute couple’s wedding isn’t until August. I will see you then!
I can’t wait to watch their special day through my lens and then share it with all of you.
